1. Make sure you understand the meaning of philosophy. The prompt is specifically asking for the philosophy of the government.
Any time you are asked to write an essay, make sure that you understand exactly what the prompt is telling you to do.
2. This prompt requires some extra thinking and maybe a little investigation. Consider these questions before writing your essay.
-What is being taught in schools these days?
-What is valued?
-What is not valued?
-What is being emphasized?
-What is being taught indirectly, not through a textbook or lesson, but by example?
-How does classroom instruction in this generation differ from instruction in past generations?
-When you look down the road to the end result of what is currently being taught, what do you see?
3. After you have answered the previous questions, look for themes or patterns that represent the philosophy of the current school system. You may discover one main theme, or the philosophy may be comprised of several prevalent ideas which you can explain in the body of the essay.
